The basics
What is Grandpa Milo?
Grandpa Milo is a warm, AI-powered journaling and personal growth companion. You write daily entries and monthly reflections, track your wellbeing, and talk to Grandpa Milo — who has actually read your journal and responds with warmth and wisdom.
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants to journal more consistently, reflect more deeply, and have someone (or something) in their corner that genuinely pays attention. It works especially well for people interested in personal development, stoic philosophy, and habit-building.
How is this different from ChatGPT or other AI tools?
Grandpa Milo reads your actual journal entries before responding. He has context about your life, your goals, your struggles — because you wrote them. He's not a general assistant. He's your journaling companion, and he remembers.
Journaling
How does the daily journal work?
Write freely from the home screen or the Journal tab. Each entry can include tags (like "gratitude" or "work") and a mood score from 1 to 10. There's no right or wrong way to write — just be honest.
What are monthly reflections?
Each month you can open a 30-day reflection cycle. It includes space for monthly goals, four weekly check-ins, and a month-end review (biggest win, lessons, gratitude, next focus). You can edit it anytime during the month, then "finalize" it as a sealed keepsake at the end.
What happens when I finalize a reflection?
The reflection is saved as an immutable snapshot — a permanent record of that month. Grandpa Milo can reference past reflections in conversation, giving you continuity across your whole year. You cannot edit a finalized reflection.
Talking to Grandpa Milo
Does Grandpa Milo actually read my journal?
Yes. When you send a message, the system finds the most relevant journal entries and your current monthly reflection, then gives Grandpa Milo that context before he responds. He isn't making things up — he's reflecting your own words back to you.
Will Grandpa Milo judge me?
Never. He's built to celebrate honest effort and small progress. He won't lecture or preach. He may gently ask one question at the end of a response — the kind of question a wise elder asks to help you think more clearly.
Where does the timeless wisdom come from?
Grandpa Milo occasionally weaves in short passages from thinkers like Marcus Aurelius, the Book of Proverbs, Viktor Frankl, or Nietzsche — but only when it's genuinely relevant to what you've shared, and always tied directly to your situation. He won't quote at you for no reason.
Progress tracking
What is the 1% tracking?
Each day you can log five simple metrics (mood, energy, sleep, exercise, focus) on a 1–10 scale. The Progress page shows 14-day sparklines so you can see slow, quiet trends — the kind of 1% improvements that compound into real change over time.
Do I have to track metrics every day?
Not at all. Log when it's useful. Missing a day or a week won't break anything. The trends are most valuable over longer stretches, not on any single day.
Account & billing
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 7 days free when you sign up. A card is required at signup; you won't be charged until the trial ends. Cancel anytime before then with no charge.
How much does it cost?
$14.99/month. One plan, everything included. No usage limits, no paywalled features.
How do I cancel?
Open Billing in the app and use the Stripe customer portal to cancel. Your access continues until the end of the paid period.
How do I reset my password?
Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. We'll send a reset link to your email.
Privacy & security
Who can read my journal?
Only you. Your entries are stored in your account's isolated database (Cloudflare D1). They are used only to generate Grandpa Milo's responses to you. We do not read, sell, or share your journal entries.
Where is my data stored?
Journal entries, reflections, and metrics are stored in Cloudflare D1 (SQLite). AI embeddings are also stored in D1. Infrastructure runs on Cloudflare Workers at the edge. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
